Masculinity and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Spoilers)

I was one of the throng of people squeezing into cinemas on the opening weekend of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I enjoyed the film that night, and enjoyed it even more the second time around, when I took some of my older children to see it. Now that my self-imposed, spoiler-avoiding media blackout has lifted, I have read a number of articles celebrating (or complaining about) the ‘feminist’ themes in the latest installment from a galaxy far, far away.
